Gluten Free Finds at the Summer Fancy Food Show Day 1

Screen Shot 2015-06-28 at 4.27.01 PM

On Sunday I attended the Summer Fancy Food Show (SFFS); the largest specialty food trade event in North America and the leading showcase of industry innovation, bringing specialty food’s top manufacturers, buyers, and thought leaders together under one roof for three days of delectable discovery. Over 2,000 vendors from more than 80 countries around the world converged upon New York City to showcase nearly 200,000 products at the 2015 Summer Fancy Food Show. From pumpkin ketchup, agave sweetened ice creams, and gluten free brownies to martini mixes, truffle oil and everything in between, there was no shortage of products on display this past weekend, and Jeremy and I were there to sample the gluten free goods and chat with some of the creators and manufacturers behind them.

I was so impressed with the number of gluten free items at the show. So many brands are coming out with new gluten free products or breaking into the gluten free industry for the first time. It’s nice to have so many more options! Below is a recap of some of my favorites!

They recently launched a new gluten free product, the Health Warrior Chia Protein Bar, which I got to try at the show. These high quality super snacks, are available in 4 flavors: Dark Chocolate Coconut Sea Salt, Honey Almond, Lemon Goldenberry, and Peanut Butter Cacao. All products are gluten Free, Soy Free, Dairy Free, Plant Based, and non-GMO. Health Warrior’s protein bars are currently only sold online and in the New York area, but will soon be available nationwide.

Cheryl’s will debut a new gluten free line of cookies this fall!

Cheryl’s was previewing its new gluten-free baked goods line, which will be available this fall! I got a first look at its new gluten-free baked goods line, and spoke with Elisabeth Allwein, Cheryl’s Food Development Director, all about the creation of this new line. The new gluten-free line will feature Cheryl’s famous baked goods including; brownie walnut (my second favorite), snicker doodle, chocolate chip (wasn’t a fan of the taste), and buttercream frosted sugar cookies, which is to die for. (Jeremy and  I ate all 4 cookies before I could snap a picture!)

I've been on a gluten free diet since January 2009. It's been an adventure, and a challenge at times. I love to go to new restaurants and try new foods, and being gluten free can make eating out difficult at times. But I will not let my dietary restrictions get in my way of finding new restaurants and products. These are my stories of being a young women in a big city, eating out and trying new foods, all while trying to NOT eat gluten. Like I said, it's an adventure and you are welcome to come along... Please note that as I try to eat gluten free 100% of the time, my intolerance is not as severe as others so please use caution when dining at restaurants that are not certified gluten free.
