Thus only organic eggs, good fresh whole milk and natural ingredients enter in the composition of Amorino’s gelati and sorbets .

Founded in 2002 by two Italian childhood friends, Amorino is the very essence of traditional Italian gelato. With numerous shops all over the world and a very recognizable ‘Amorino’ (Renaissance angel) as the logo, Amorino has already established itself as the go to for quality, consistency and flavor. What differentiates the brand from others is the iconic and original presentation of the gelato flower as well as the use of fresh and natural ingredients.

Amorino arrived in the United States in 2011 with the first store in the West Village, with a second location opening in Chelsea about a year ago, followed by Corte Madera (San Francisco), Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, Boston, and Chicago, with Houston and a second San Francisco location opening soon.

When tasting the gelato at Amorino, you are immediately aware of the ingredients it contains. You can taste the realness and the freshness of the ingredients, and it is immediately evident that there are no artificial flavors or additives.

For those of us with allergies or dietary restrictions there are great alternatives that include sorbets and egg, gluten or nut free gelato options. In fact, all but two flavors of gelato are gluten free.

Gluten Free flavors include:

  • Amorino Chocolate
  • Bourbon Vanilla
  • Unique
  • Stracciatella
  • Bronte Pistachip
  • Coconut
  • Coffee
  • Yogurt
  • Hazelnut
  • Amarena Cherry
  • Chocolate from Ecuador
  • Salted Butter Caramel
  • Heritage Rasberry Sorbet
  • Alphonso Mango Sorbet
  • Camarosa Strawberry Sorbet
  • Organic Chocolate Sorbet
  • Femminello Lemon Sorbet
  • Passion Fruit Sorbet
  • Banana Sorbet

My favorite is the lactose free Organic Chocolate Sorbet. It has such an intense taste for a lactose-free flavor, a guilt-free delight I promise you will enjoy.

Not only does Amorino make delicious gelato but they also serve up gluten free macarons! These are not your ordinary macarons. You will find ice creams and sorbets sandwiched between two delicate almond shells, for irresistible ice cream macarons. Yum.

What is also unique about Amorino is that they offer 5 cups sizes (and 4 cone sizes although they do not have a gluten free cone yet. With the choice of kid, Piccola, Classica, Grande, Gigante and Grandissima there is something for everyone. And, you can choose as many flavors as you’d like in each cup for no additional charge!

So, if you’re looking for truly authentic gelato then head over to one or Amorino‘s locations and let yourself indulge!

Disclaimer: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free.  Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I was not paid to write this review.

I've been on a gluten free diet since January 2009. It's been an adventure, and a challenge at times. I love to go to new restaurants and try new foods, and being gluten free can make eating out difficult at times. But I will not let my dietary restrictions get in my way of finding new restaurants and products. These are my stories of being a young women in a big city, eating out and trying new foods, all while NOT eating gluten. Like I said, it's an adventure and you are welcome to come along... Please note that as I try to eat gluten free 100% of the time, my intolerance is not as severe as others so please use caution when dining at restaurants that are not certified gluten free.

  1. There is no gelato place anywhere near me, Amorino sounds like a dream! I would love to try each and every flavor, and start with Banana Sorbet!

  2. Gluten free macaroons?! OOOH. I hope they open one of these up in Seattle! Their gelato looks incredible!

  3. Finally a good recommendation for me and lactose free is so wonderful. I have started moving towards being lactose free and chocolate is my favorite! Yay!
